The port
I had my port put in yesterday. It is a larger device than I thought it would be, and there is a lump on the left side of my chest. The procedure wasn't bad, but I was a bit sore coming out of the hospital. The biggest problem with it so far is that I could not get into a comfortable position last night, so I haven't slept. Hopefully the Lortabs will at least allow me to catch a nap today.

Good luck with it! I didn't know anything about a port like this, so I asked someone here who had one. She said it was the best thing she had done - it made everything go much easier and she was able to get through chemo sessions faster. Apparently you get to jump to the head of the line if you have a port installed because it's super easy to hook into.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know if you could have a little fun with it, like freak out the nurses and attach a Pez dispenser head to it, ha ha! ;-) (Apparently it's under the skin - I thought it would be like a Borg device or something.)
Keep us posted - we are all rooting for you!!
